Objectives of the Junior Research Group

Establishment of the junior research group of the DG-Sucht

On the initiative of the Board, the junior research group of the DG-Sucht was established June 30th, 2011 in Mannheim. 30 young members (< 40 years) from all over Germany were involved, who represent all professional groups of the DG-Sucht.

Given that the majority of the DG-Sucht members is older than 50 years, the junior research group has focused mainly on designing the DG-Sucht more known and more attractive especially for students, post-graduates and young professionals in the field of addiction research and addiction therapy, in order to increasingly reach interested and involved young researchers. For this purpose, the junior research group is planning different measures and initiatives and has established several working groups for this goal. In 2012, the junior research group has started to organise an own symposium with interesting topics for students, young researchers and therapists and will additionally be represented by an own booth. Furthermore, the junior research group aims at presenting the DG-Sucht more attractive for practitioners, as well as at further promoting the exchange between research and practice as well as its interdisciplinarity. First ideas have been developed, e. g. the opportunity to accomplish an insight into different settings such as counselling centres, rehabilitation settings, hospitals or universities, and to allow for a better networking. During the next meetings of the junior research group these ideas will be further specified.
